Bahwan Veolia Water, a partnership of Veolia and Bahwan Engineering, has won a five-year contract to operate and maintain the Al Asilah desalination plant in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The plant delivers 80,000 m³ per day; the contract also covers the on-site solar photovoltaic farm. The client is Al Asilah Operation and Maintenance LLC; the owner is Al Asilah Desalination Company, whose major shareholders include Japan's JGC Holdings and Oman's Bahwan Group. According to Veolia, the plant serves 200,000 residents.

Operation and maintenance are tendered separately, and international operators team up with local partners to win them. The report gives no contract value.
