In November 2018, Water. Desalination + reuse (Faversham House) reported that Hyflux had won more time to sell its Tuaspring desalination and power plant in Singapore. Secured creditor Maybank agreed to move the deadline for a binding agreement from 29 October to 29 November 2018. The deal then needed consent from the Public Utilities Board (PUB) and perhaps the High Court by 11 December, and from shareholders by 4 February 2019. Hyflux also sought a four-month extension of the creditor moratorium granted in June.
The report showed how closely the finances of a major desalination operator were tied to creditors, the courts and the water authority, and how tight the timetable for a sale had become.
