In October 2018, Water. Desalination + reuse (Faversham House) reported that IDE Technologies had secured a contract for a BWRO (brackish water reverse osmosis) plant at Emek Hamainot, Israel. The client was Afikei Mayim, the water utility serving the Beit She'an valley. IDE was to design, equip, commission and run the 6,750 m³/day facility, treating brackish surface water for farming. The plant was modular and expandable. For cleaning, IDE planned its Direct Osmosis High Salinity (DOHS) method, which flushes membranes with brief salt pulses while the plant keeps running.
The report showed that even smaller brackish water plants for agriculture were awarded together with operation, and that difficult feed water raised demand for cleaning without shutdowns.
