In December 2015, Water. Desalination + reuse (Faversham House) reported that Doosan Babcock had won a maintenance and service contract from Taweelah Asia Power Company (Tapco). The eight-year deal covered the Taweelah B power and desalination complex in Abu Dhabi, which the company described as the second largest of its type in the United Arab Emirates. Its scope included six boilers, five heat recovery steam generators, twelve drinking water tanks and 13 MSF (multi-stage flash) desalination units. Other companies in the Korean Doosan group were to supply expertise.
The report showed that long-term service contracts for large thermal desalination plants in the Gulf formed a distinct market for engineering firms.
