In June 2016, Water. Desalination + reuse (Faversham House) reported that Qurayyat Desalination SAOC, a Hyflux subsidiary, had obtained US$ 185 million of non-recourse financing for a seawater reverse osmosis plant at Qurayyat. Located in Muscat governorate, it was the largest Hyflux project in Oman and was to add 200,000 m³/day of drinking water. Oman Power and Water Procurement Company would buy the output from 2017 to 2037. The lenders were Mizuho Bank, Singapore's Clifford Capital and Standard Chartered Bank (Dubai).
The report showed that desalination projects in Oman were financed by banks from Asia and the Gulf on the strength of long-term offtake agreements.
