In April 2020, VietnamPlus, citing the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), reported that Doosan Heavy Industries Vietnam (Doosan Vina) had delivered three large desalination components weighing more than 2,000 tonnes in total to Bahrain. The evaporator, final-effect unit and seawater heater belong to the Bapco MED project, for which Doosan Vina had contracted with Samsung Engineering in October 2018. At Bapco they are to heat seawater and turn it into distilled water. The parts were built in Quang Ngai province, Vietnam.

The report showed that heavy components for thermal desalination were fabricated in Vietnam and shipped to a Gulf project, with the order chain running through Samsung Engineering.
