In November 2016, Water. Desalination + reuse (Faversham House) reported that Seven Seas Water, a unit of AquaVenture, had bought Aguas de Bayovar for US$46 million in cash. The company served the Bayovar phosphate mine in northwestern Peru, run by Compania Minera Miski Mayo. Through a 39 km pipeline it delivered more than 30,000 m³/day of seawater, plus 10,400 m³/day of process water from a reverse osmosis plant at the mine. It was the second desalination asset of Seven Seas Water in South America.
The report showed how desalination operators were opening up mining in South America as a market for water supplied as a service rather than just building plants.
