Luxury resort with its own desalination plant, Corfu

In October 2018, Water. Desalination + reuse (Faversham House) reported, citing Greek Reporter, that a luxury resort on Corfu was set to proceed after seven years of delay. Plans covered an energy self-sufficient complex with a 90-room hotel, a marina, infrastructure and a dedicated desalination plant, with building work starting in 2019, followed by 40 luxury homes. Since approval in 2012, residents, environmental groups and municipalities had held it up with eleven lawsuits. Backed by NCH Capital, it was one of the privatisations tied to Greece's 2010 bailout.

The item showed large tourism developments on Mediterranean islands planning in-house desalination as a fixed part of a self-sufficient overall concept.
