On Lanzarote, two desalination plants went down at the same time from Wednesday, 28 October. At the Díaz Rijo plant (Lanzarote IV), planned maintenance of modules 1 to 3 took longer than expected; at Janubio, an electrical failure stopped the plant and with it the Las Breñas pumping station. La Voz de Lanzarote counted 17 villages without water, Canarias7 more than twenty. By midday on Friday, 30 October, supply was back to normal, according to the operator, the Consorcio del Agua de Lanzarote.
When maintenance and a fault coincide, storage decides: according to Canarias7, the Zonzamas reservoirs fell to a minimum.
