In December 2019, The Jerusalem Post reported that US chemical group DuPont had signed a deal to buy Desalitech. The Israeli-founded firm, set up in 2008, developed closed circuit reverse osmosis (CCRO) for industrial and municipal users. It had been based in Massachusetts since 2013 and kept an office in Kfar Saba. The company said its process recovered up to 98% of treated water. Desalitech had raised $24.5 million, and no purchase price was disclosed.
The report showed how large chemical groups were expanding their reverse osmosis portfolios by buying specialised technology firms, in this case one offering a process with very high water recovery.
